Battle of the Bots: Tournament of ChampionsScience & EngineeringBattle of the bots is a great way to learn how technologies like programming, sensors, gears, and mechanics work, all while having fun! Campers will learn the fundamentals of mechanical engineering as they team up to build robotic systems and compete against one another in tasks such as sumo-wrestling, tug-o-war, head-to-head combat, and much more! Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid and Safe Home Alone (Add On - Pet Sitter Safety too)BabysittingCertified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid and Safe Home Alone Learn to be safe and responsible. Build confidence. Have a competitive edge over other babysitters. Topics include first aid, when and how to call 911, CPR with manikin practice, choking, dealing with difficult behaviors, basic care methods like feeding and diapering, marketing and more! Students will also learn how to be safe and responsible when home alone, including the importance of not giving out personal information and what to do if somebody comes to the door. Students who successfully complete the course requirements will receive a certificate of completion for Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid course by Live Safe Academy (valid for two years). Parents, this class is for students who are independent and responsible enough to be responsible for the safety and well-being of younger children without adult supervision. Class will end between 2 PM and 3 PM depending on when students complete the course requirements. Students need a lunch, snacks, and a fully charged cell phone (if they own one). If your student does not have a cell phone, please write down the cell phone number of the person picking them up and give it to the student. Students will message their ride at lunchtime to let their ride know what time to pick them up. Please check in your student at the beginning of class. Drop off and pick up is in the classroom. Robotics: Autonomous Programming CampScience & EngineeringThe HOT Robotics Team is proud to present our advanced Arduino autonomous car programming class. In this 3 day camp, campers will be mentored by HOT Team students as they (day 1) learn how to use the Arduino IDE to communicate with the robot car, navigate the robot car base code and create "dead reckoning" code to navigate a parking garage; (day 2) use sensors to gather information about the car's surroundings and use these sensors to control the robot car's behavior; (day 3) learn how to communicate with the robot with a remote control and program the robot to play laser tag with another robot.Summer 2023

Safe Town HVSSafety TrainingSafe Town is an early childhood safety education program. Children learn all aspects of safety through projects, songs, games, presentations, and plays. This program teaches bus safety, electricity and water safety, dog safety, stranger safety, bike safety and much more. Visitors come each day. Crafts supporting the daily theme are completed and children get important information about starting school. Part of each day is spent "In the Town" with some of the children being pedestrians and some as drivers of 14" or 16" two-wheel bikes with training wheels. PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD BRING IN THEIR OWN LABELED HELMET AND BACKPACK. Safe Town is for children entering Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten or First Grade in the fall.
