Participants will learn how to protect their safety and the safety of their friends, family and co-workers. Topics include personal safety and safety in your home and vehicle. Our staff includes law enforcement officers, military personal with combat experience, field staff for one of the most active Medical Examiner Offices in the Country, and professional protection services in some of our nation’s most dangerous cities. Many of our instructors have extensive experience teaching in colleges and police academies. This class will enhance balance, cardiovascular endurance and coordination. * Flotation is required. Group Fitness Land Class Registration - Summer 2022Group Fitness (Land)Welcome to Huron Valley Rec and Ed! We offer a variety of in person, indoor, fitness classes for ALL fitness levels, Monday- Saturday. If you had a Pools and Fitness membership prior to the Covid shut-down, please note that these classes do run independently now so you may need to update your membership! We do recommend pre-registration for classes as we do have minimum and maximum class sizes set. The Spring class schedule, with descriptions and intensity levels, can be found HERE. Our Summer Class Series will run June 1st- August 31st at both Lakeland and Milford HS (13 weeks of classes). No classes will run on Saturday, July 2nd or Monday, July 4th. Safe on CampusSafety TrainingStatistically people are at greatest risk for assault twice in their life, when they are going to high school/college and when they are senior citizens. But the most common assaults are easy to avoid >IF< you know how to recognize the warning signs and >IF< you know what to do. Learn real world self-defense for everyday people from an instructor who taught an accredited self-defense course at three college campuses to thousands of college students over the course of 14 years. Simple skills that are easy to learn and remember, and that have a proven track record of saving lives. NOTE: This class is not just for students going to school. The knowledge gained in this program is essential for everyone and is open to all students 12 years or older (male and female). Parents, serious topics are discussed openly but in a professional manor. Minors should be accompanied by a participating adult when possible. Unpaid spectators are not allowed. A release and hold harmless agreement must be signed by a legal guardian at the beginning of class. Students should wear loose fitting comfortable clothing and athletic footwear appropriate for physical activity and have adequate food and beverages to be safe and comfortable for two hours of physical practice.
