Learn how to respond effectively to adult, child and infant cardiac and choking emergencies, sudden illness, bleeding, and other life-threatening conditions from the American Red Cross programs that set the national standard. You will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and your vital role in the chain of survival. Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification card will be issued upon successful completion of course requirements (valid for two years). Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid and Safe Home Alone (Add On - Pet Sitter Safety too)BabysittingCertified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid and Safe Home Alone Learn to be safe and responsible. Build confidence. Have a competitive edge over other babysitters. Topics include first aid, when and how to call 911, CPR with manikin practice, choking, dealing with difficult behaviors, basic care methods like feeding and diapering, marketing and more! Students will also learn how to be safe and responsible when home alone, including the importance of not giving out personal information and what to do if somebody comes to the door. Students who successfully complete the course requirements will receive a certificate of completion for Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid course by Live Safe Academy (valid for two years). Parents, this class is for students who are independent and responsible enough to be responsible for the safety and well-being of younger children without adult supervision. Class will end between 2 PM and 3 PM depending on when students complete the course requirements. Students need a lunch, snacks, and a fully charged cell phone (if they own one). If your student does not have a cell phone, please write down the cell phone number of the person picking them up and give it to the student. Students will message their ride at lunchtime to let their ride know what time to pick them up. Please check in your student at the beginning of class. Drop off and pick up is in the classroom. Each day, players will learn important in-game skills to improve and level up their play while also learning teamwork, communication, and building confidence - all through fun gaming activities and competitions. Details will follow soon. If we still need to fill teams after the early tryouts, then we'll host another tryout this Fall. Coach Coordinators - Girls Program - Coach Meghan Polce Boys Program - Coach Bob Parsons Season Dates - U12s - U14s: December - March (a few teams may choose to run December - June, details available at tryouts) Age Groups - Girls - U10s (3rd and 4th Grade), U11s (5th Grade), U12 (6th Grade), U13 (7th Grade), U14 (8th Grade) Boys - Elementary (Grades 3-5) and Middle School (Grades 6-8) Practices - TBD, for the 2022/2023 Season we ran practices - Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays @ Oak Valley MS either 6-7:30 or 7:30-9 p.m., teams will practice 2x a week. Tournaments - Teams will play in approximately 6 local 1-day AAU Tournaments. Tournaments will start in early January and finish at the end of March. Dates and locations TBD. Teams choosing to play an extended season will play in more tournaments. Uniforms - we will have a uniform for the players including a jersey, shorts, socks and kneepads. Price TBD. Swag gear will also be available. 2023 Team Fees were $1500 per team for Girls 11-14 and $350 for the U10s. 2024 Team Fees will be set before tryouts and payment plans are available. Students will work with an Arduino kit that they can take home at the end of camp. Students will start learning about electrical circuits Day 1 with the Arduino kit, on Day 2 and 3 campers will learn how to program their electronic circuits to do cool things (students may program using their own computers or borrow a camp computer). Intro to Sports OfficiatingAdult RecreationThe Michigan High School Athletic Association has partnered with an online education system called RefReps. HV Rec and Community Ed is offering this officiating training for anyone ages 14 and older to get trained and certified to become an MHSAA official. There will be online training tools as well as in person lessons where students will get hands on training. HV Rec and Ed will also be offering jobs to officiate in the various leagues offered throughout the year. Wages are competitive and work schedules are flexible to work around busy school/sports/life schedules. This program will offer training in basketball, volleyball and soccer as the primary sports, but there will be options for students to get trained in any of the 13 offerings. The online training is interactive and provides "real life" examples from the official's perspective in live games. Course Fee: $75/sport - this includes online training, in person training, MHSAA license once the student successfully passes the course and lifetime access to the resources.Summer 2023

JD7: Summer Basketball AcademyBasketball ProgramsThe 2023 Summer Academy is an event with 100% concentration on the individual skills of girls and boys basketball players. Our staff is second to none in player development, with multiple combined years of coaching experience; and having worked with dozens of players. For: 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th Grade Boys and Girls – 2 sessions per day offered, sign up for one or both. We will have drills with varying degree of difficulty to encourage all level player to participate and scrimmage. With our philosophy of Attitude - Hard Work - Preparation, each player will be taught to play with confidence, team first, hard work and to prepare to be the best basketball player you can be. Session 1 is recommended for Incoming 4-6th graders and will focus on basic skills, footwork and positioning.
