    Adult Pickleball - Beginner Pickleball Lessons (age 15 +)

    This 3 week series of lessons will cover how to play pickle ball. Learn the rules, how to serve/return, keeping score, dink/drop shots, drive/attack shots, hitting zones, punch volleys, and court coverage. Please dress in comfortable/athletic clothing and appropriate footwear for the lesson. Please bring your own paddle.     Adult Pickleball - Ladder League

    Please dress in comfortable/athletic clothing and appropriate footwear for the league. Please bring your own paddle. Beginner Ladder League: Player must know the basics of the game: can serve successfully most of the time, keep score, return, and can play at the kitchen line for completion of the point. Advance Beginner Ladder League: Player has been playing at the beginning level and is ready to be challenged. Player is starting to form strategy with shots and placement. Player is not ready for the faster paced play of intermediate or advanced play. Registration fees will be charged on 7/1/24.

    These Specialty Clinics our instructor will focus on specific skill during the session rather than a general introduction to the sport. Please dress in comfortable/athletic clothing and appropriate footwear for the lesson. Please bring your own paddle. Dates Available and course: June 5th / July 10th– Dinks and 3rd shot drops: learn how to improve your soft game, dinks and drops in the kitchen, strategy while dinking, and using top spin and slice. June 12th / July 17th - Serve and Return: Learn how to serve with a purpose, ball placement, different styles, and spins. Learn how to return deep, driving returns, and lobs returns. June 19th / July 24th – Defending hard shots, volleys, and overhead slams. Learn how to reset – slow the game. Practice fast hand volley skills..     Join us for our women's volleyball league on Thursdays at White Lake MS. Please register by team and we are limiting to 8 teams. There will be weekly match play, followed by 2 weeks of tournament play. New feature this season, we are doing t-shirts for everyone. Tournament winners this season will just get bragging rights. Learn how to respond effectively to adult, child and infant cardiac and choking emergencies, sudden illness, bleeding, and other life-threatening conditions from the American Red Cross programs that set the national standard. You will also learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and your vital role in the chain of survival. Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification card will be issued upon successful completion of course requirements (valid for two years). Please note that you must arrive on time to be certified, so please arrive up to 10 minutes early. No refunds or credit with less than 24-hour notice. In this class you'll understand recommended safety settings on popular social media apps, parental apps for your child's Smartphone, and more! We simplify this complicated technology so that you and your child can use the phone safely without worry. Registration fees will be charged on 7/1/24.
  • Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid and Safe Home Alone

    Learn to be safe and responsible. Build confidence. Have a competitive edge over other babysitters. One-day class. Topics include first aid, when and how to call 911, CPR with manikin practice, choking, and more! Students will also learn how to be safe and responsible when home alone, including what to do if somebody comes to the door and the importance of not giving out personal information. Students who successfully complete the course requirements will receive a certificate of completion for Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid course by Live Safe Academy (valid for two years). To be certified students must participate in the entire course from beginning to end and successfully complete all skills, which requires full motor function of all four extremities. Bring a snack, pen and paper for notes is optional. No cell phone use during class except during break.   • Family Swim Night @ Lakeland's Pool

    Join us on Wednesday nights for our Family Swim Nights from 5-8 p.m. at our Lakeland Competition Pool. You and your kids can come and enjoy some time in the pool. We do have lifejackets for people who may need them. We open up 2 lanes so it's an open play area for you and your family. The diving well is also available to use. Please register the adult attending, must be 18 years or older. Register 1 person for $7, 2 people for $14 or a Family of 3-5 members for $20. An adult is required to be in the water with any child(ren) who cannot swim without floatation assistance. All children 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. The adult does not have to get in the pool with children who know how to swim without a flotation device, but they are expected to remain in the pool space (deck/bleachers).     Fore Ladies Only at Union Lake Golf Course

    This class for the female golfer focuses on combining swing development, on-course play; with a focus on safety, etiquette, and fitness. Golfers should bring their own equipment (limited clubs are available) and a water bottle. Range balls are included in the price of the class. Limited to six participants per class.   • Guitar (Learn to Play) Summer Camp

    Bring your own guitar and learn how to play chords, scales and your favorite songs too. You will also gain understanding of several music theory principles related to writing your own songs. In addition, a review of guitar tuning, essential maintenance and installing new strings on your guitar will be presented. Play music games and see concert videos from your favorite artists!   • Guitar Building Workshop

    The Electric Guitar Building Workshops are an exciting music program providing a comprehensive presentation of the guitar building process. You will fully assemble playable instruments, install the electronics and calibrate the intonation. In addition, you will learn to string and tune these guitars through several methods and with professional accuracy. Basic hand tools are provided (no power tools are required). Guitars are available for purchase after the workshop. Guitars will be available for purchase anytime during the workshop from the instructor. Registration fees will be charged on 7/1/24.
  • HV Rec and Ed Pickleball Tournament

    Join us this fall for our first annual HV Rec and Ed Scholarship Fund Pickleball Tournament. This event will raise funds for our scholarship fund which helps families afford our programs (youth enrichment, youth recreation and special event programs). Come out and help us raise money to help those families in need and have fun playing pickleball while you are at it! Please register as a pair. We will offer different divisions for different skill levels. Divisions: (Adults are Ages 15+) Men and Women Level 3.0 Men and Women Level 3.5 Mixed Beginner Mixed Level 3.0 Mixed Level 3.5 Registration fees will be collected on 8/1/24.

    HV United Volleyball Club entering its 3rd season and is brought to you by HV Rec and Community Ed. Details: Tryouts - Early Tryouts will be July 10, 2024. If we still need to fill teams after the early tryouts, then we'll host another tryout this Fall. Boys Tryouts - held later this summer/fall Girls U10 and U11 Tryouts: held this fall, TBD Season Dates - U12s - U14s: December - March (a few teams may choose to run December - June, details available at tryouts) Age Groups - Girls - U10s (3rd and 4th Grade), U11s (5th Grade), U12 (6th Grade), U13 (7th Grade), U14 (8th Grade) Boys - Elementary (Grades 3-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), and High School (Grades 9-12) Practices - TBD, for the 2023/2024; teams will practice 2x a week. Tournaments - Teams will play in approximately 6 local 1-day AAU Tournaments. Tournaments will start in early January and finish at the end of March. Dates and locations TBD. Teams choosing to play an extended season will play in more tournaments. Uniforms - we will have a uniform for the players including a jersey, shorts, socks and kneepads. Price TBD.     Do you hate to drive in bad weather or when it's dark outside? Expand your transportation options and independence through the ride sharing service, Uber. In this class, you will learn the basics and gain the knowledge on how to use Uber. Learn to use Uber at major airports so that you can travel with confidence and without having to ask a friend for a ride, as well as other appointments and errands. Open up your travel options with this fun and engaging class! No experience required and training materials will be provided for each attendee. Registration fees will be charged on 7/1/24.
  • Integral Obedience with TalkDog Training

    Do you have a dog in need of training? Come in and get started with this introductory obedience course going over all of the essential behaviors and solutions to common problems that you and your dog might need. We use proven effective force free training methods rooted in the science of animal behavior to help you communicate effectively with your dog. Training will include: Eye contact, Sit, Down, Extensive Leash walking, Drop it, Leave it, Go to a bed, Waiting at a door and 2 separate recalls. We will also cover common problem behaviors in detail such as Jumping, Barking, Digging, Object stealing and chewing, Play Biting and much more. The last week of class could include an AKC Puppy Star test or Canine Good Citizen test. Please do NOT bring your dog for the first week. The instructor will be reviewing a lot of information that first week that is just meant for you, not your pet. Please bring proof of vaccinations to first class.
  • Intro to Sports Officiating

    The Michigan High School Athletic Association has partnered with an online education system called RefReps. HV Rec and Community Ed is offering this officiating training for anyone ages 14 and older to get trained and certified to become an MHSAA official. There will be online training tools as well as in person lessons where students will get hands on training. HV Rec and Ed will also be offering jobs to officiate in the various leagues offered throughout the year. Wages are competitive and work schedules are flexible to work around busy school/sports/life schedules. This program will offer training in basketball, volleyball and soccer as the primary sports, but there will be options for students to get trained in any of the 13 offerings. The online training is interactive and provides "real life" examples from the official's perspective in live games. Course Fee: $75/sport (basketball, soccer and volleyball)- this includes online training, in person training, MHSAA license once the student successfully passes the course and lifetime access to the resources. All other sports will be $50/sport because it will ONLY be the online training, no hands on included.
  • LHS High School Football Camp: Eagles Install Camp (Incoming 9-12 Graders)

    This camp is for all players - incoming Freshman-Seniors (current 8-11 graders). Install Camp is a must to be on the same page for this new beginning. We will go through scheme, philosophy and strategy that is vital to results. This camp will start the summer and have players ready to learn the game, effort and process. T Shirt provided. All players that haven’t yet picked up a helmet, please show as early a s possible after school on the 8th. Helmets, cleats, tennis shoes and gallon of water needed and a snack. There will be a break in the day.
  • LHS High School Football Camp: Eagles Team Camp (9th-12th Grade)

    No Substitution for EFFORT Install is complete; execution begins, as a team. This camp will be our foundation for the season. Players will learn most of our schemes on offense, defense and specials. Players will learn the importance of effort and competition needed to be successful. T shirt provided. All players will need helmet, cleats, tennis shoes, food(30minute break), and a gallon of water.
  • Lifeguard Training

    We are excited to offer you American Red Cross Lifeguarding Blended Learning. Blended learning combines online learning with in-person skills sessions where you will practice skills and demonstrate competency. The online learning modules include CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid final eLearning exam. The in person portion of the training is spread out over four days and is a mixture of in water and classroom sessions.
  • MHS Football Camp (9th-12th Grade)

    Milford's high school football annual team camp is here. Players will begin to dive into the offense and defensive playbooks. Players will be trained by their position coach. Please bring football shoes, gym shoes, workout clothes and water. Registration fees will be charged on 7/1/24.
