  • Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid and Safe Home Alone

    Learn to be safe and responsible. Build confidence. Have a competitive edge over other babysitters. One-day class. Topics include first aid, when and how to call 911, CPR with manikin practice, choking, and more! Students will also learn how to be safe and responsible when home alone, including what to do if somebody comes to the door and the importance of not giving out personal information. Students who successfully complete the course requirements will receive a certificate of completion for Certified Babysitter/CPR/First Aid course by Live Safe Academy (valid for two years). To be certified students must participate in the entire course from beginning to end and successfully complete all skills, which requires full motor function of all four extremities. Bring a snack, pen and paper for notes is optional. No cell phone use during class except during break.     The Electric Guitar Building Workshops are an exciting music program providing a comprehensive presentation of the guitar building process. You will fully assemble playable instruments, install the electronics and calibrate the intonation. In addition, you will learn to string and tune these guitars through several methods and with professional accuracy. Basic hand tools are provided (no power tools are required). Learn to use Uber at major airports so that you can travel with confidence and without having to ask a friend for a ride, as well as other appointments and errands.   • Integral Obedience with TalkDog Training

    Do you have a dog in need of training? Come in and get started with this introductory obedience course going over all of the essential behaviors and solutions to common problems that you and your dog might need. We use proven effective force free training methods rooted in the science of animal behavior to help you communicate effectively with your dog. Training will include: Eye contact, Sit, Down, Extensive Leash walking, Drop it, Leave it, Go to a bed, Waiting at a door and 2 separate recalls. We will also cover common problem behaviors in detail such as Jumping, Barking, Digging, Object stealing and chewing, Play Biting and much more. The last week of class could include an AKC Puppy Star test or Canine Good Citizen test. Please do NOT bring your dog for the first week. The instructor will be reviewing a lot of information that first week that is just meant for you, not your pet. Please bring proof of vaccinations to first class.

    Join the Huron Valley HOT Team this summer with our Arduino Electronics Camp! Students will work with an Arduino kit that they can take home at the end of camp. The HOT Robotics Team's summer camp for tweenagers is an exciting and educational experience designed to ignite a passion for electronics and programming which is led by knowledgeable and enthusiastic members of the HOT Robotics Team. Campers delve into the world of STEM through hands-on learning and project-based activities - Each camper receives: an Arduino-based Elegoo kit, a versatile platform perfect for beginners to dive into electronics and coding. Throughout the camp, participants learn the fundamentals of circuitry, coding, and problem-solving as they work on various projects. The emphasis on project-based learning ensures that campers not only grasp theoretical concepts but also apply them in practical, engaging ways. One of the highlights of the camp is the final project: creating a video game using their newfound electronics and programming skills. * This also helps fund HVS HOT Robotics Team for the coming year.* Registration fees will be charged on 7/1/24.

    This is an open-ended art class for your child to express themselves and explore with various art mediums. Our materials list is ever evolving! A sample of experiences include drawing, out of the box exploration with paint & color, watercolor and tempera paints, pastels, air dry clay, and working with various materials to empower a creative imagination.   • My Kid Wants To Be a YouTuber - Help!

    Does your child dream of having their own YouTube channel? Eliminate the worry with this helpful class as we walk you through the steps on how to set up a YouTube channel, safety settings, and consideration for kids having their own channel. Parents will learn the basic guidelines of being able to help manage and monitor their activity, all while incorporating practical business skills when it comes to managing your own channel. You’ll learn how this hobby can become a practical career, safety practices, and even create fun videos! Parents will leave the class with helpful guidelines to get their kid’s channel started safely and a solid foundation for their child’s new creative outlet in 2023. Please note, children must be age 13 and have parental permission to start a YouTube channel.
  • Safe Town HVS

    Safe Town is an early childhood safety education program. Children learn all aspects of safety through projects, songs, games, presentations, and plays. This program teaches bus safety, electricity and water safety, dog safety, stranger safety, bike safety and much more. Visitors come each day. Crafts supporting the daily theme are completed and children get important information about starting school. Part of each day is spent "In the Town" with some of the children being pedestrians and some as drivers of 14" or 16" two-wheel bikes with training wheels. PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD BRING IN THEIR OWN LABELED HELMET AND BACKPACK. Safe Town is for children entering Junior Kindergarten, Kindergarten or First Grade in the fall. The sessions meet for one week for three hours per day. Children are required to bring their own lunch with a beverage (nut free). Scholarships are available for this program.     Statistically people are at greatest risk for assault twice in their life, when they are going to high school/college and when they are a senior citizen. But the most common assaults are easy to avoid >IF< you know how to recognize the warning signs and >IF< you know what to do. Learn real world self-defense for everyday people from an instructor who taught an accredited self-defense course at three college campuses to thousands of college students over the course of 14 years. Simple skills that are easy to learn and remember, and that have a proven track record of saving lives. NOTE: This class is not just for students going to school. The knowledge gained in this program is essential for everyone and is open to all students 12 years or older (male and female).
